Juli & Suela Muhameti

Serving the Church, Students, and the Next Generation in Albania

Juli became a Christian at the age of 14. Coming from a culturally Muslim family, he first read the Qur’an from cover to cover while searching for truth. The picture of God he found there felt distant, harsh, and impossible to please. He wondered if following God was hopeless.

A friend then challenged him to read the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, at the same time. What began as a teenage competition became, by God’s grace, a rescue mission. Somewhere in the middle of Exodus and John, God opened Juli’s eyes. He put his faith in Jesus Christ and received the gift of eternal life.

When Juli became a Christian, his family rejected him for eight months because of their Muslim background. To them, his decision to follow Christ felt like a betrayal of the family and their religion. It was a painful season, but God used it to deepen his faith and teach him that following Jesus is worth everything.

Juli is married to Suela, and together they have two daughters, Amelia, 14, and Ema, 11.

Suela first heard about God when she was about seven years old. She saw Jesus through the eyes of a child, full of love, yet already aware of the importance of God in life. The village where she lived was almost entirely Muslim, and many people were against her family, even threatening them because of their faith. But God showed mercy to her family. Her father courageously shared his testimony publicly in the middle of the village, and since then their family has been highly respected. From 1994 until today, her father has opened their home as a house church.

Suela grew up surrounded by God’s love and His miracles. During her teenage years, she gave her heart fully to Jesus. She believes that God moved people and circumstances so that she could hear the gospel, because His plan for her life was much bigger than she could have imagined.

Juli and Suela studied together at Tilsley Bible College in Scotland. After returning to Albania, they continued serving the church in Vlorë. Juli serves as a teaching elder in the church and leads the Living Stone youth ministry for teenagers ages 14–18. Suela co-leads Three16, a ministry serving pre-teens ages 10–14.

They have also served students through BSKSH, the Albanian student movement connected with IFES, similar to InterVarsity and Christian Unions. Their heart is to see young people reached with the gospel, discipled in Christ, and equipped to serve the church and society.

In 2018, Juli and Suela started JetaPlus, a Josiah Venture ministry in Albania. By God’s grace, they helped grow the ministry to a team of eight staff members, impacting young people across the country. In April 2026, they separated from JetaPlus to focus more fully on local church ministry and college student ministry.

Juli and Suela believe deeply in family and mission. Their daughter Amelia is already part of the team serving in the kids’ ministry at their church. She loves serving children and sharing the gospel with them. As a family, the Muhametis believe that God has moved their hearts toward serving Him together—not only as individuals but as a household committed to His kingdom.

Their hearts remain burdened for the millions of young people in Albania who still do not know Christ. They long to see a new generation reached with the gospel, formed as disciples of Jesus, and sent to serve His kingdom.
